These symposia and the European Union–USA Engineering Ceramics Summit were all sponsored by The American Ceramic Society's Engineering Ceramics Division. The symposium on Advanced Ceramics and Composites for Nuclear and Fusion Applications was cosponsored by The American Ceramic Society's Nuclear & Environmental Technology Division. Readers will find plenty of charts, tables, and illustrations throughout this issue to help them better understand core concepts and applications. Moreover, all the papers are extensively referenced. This issue represents one of nine CESP issues published from the 36th ICACC meeting.
