Straightforward has been revamped in a second edition, with much of the content updated and made more relevant to our ever-changing world. New topics, articles and exercises appear within a fresh new design. All the old teachers' favourites are still there - meaning it will still be a joy to teach with. Lindsay Clandfield is a teacher, teacher trainer and international author from Canada. He is the main author of Macmillan’s new award-winning and critically acclaimed adult course Global (2010) and was a part of the author team for the popular Straightforward Series. Lindsay has won prestigious recognition for his writing, most notably for Global and Dealing with Difficulties (Delta Publishing, with co-author Luke Prodromou) both of which earned him a visit to Buckingham Palace to receive an award from the Duke of Edinburgh. After teaching in Mexico, Spain and the UK Lindsay began his writing career with the website Onestopenglish. He became a regular after winning the Lesson Share competition three times in a row. Philip Kerr has worked as a teacher, teacher trainer, lecturer, educational manager and writer of educational materials. He has lived and worked in the UK, Morocco, Spain and Belgium, and he has presented at conferences and run teacher training courses in more than 25 countries around the world. He currently lives in Brussels. His publications include the coursebook series Straightforward, Inside out and Matura Masters. Ceri Jones has been working in ELT since 1986. She has worked as a teacher, trainer and manager in Italy, Hungary, Spain and the UK. She has been involved in both initial and INSET training for both the private and public sectors and in ongoing teacher development as DOS at a large IH school in Spain. In 1998 she received an MA in TEFL from Reading University and at the same time she started writing teaching materials. She has been involved in several coursebook series (Inside Out, Framework and Straightforward) as well as writing support materials for graded readers and authentic literary texts. At present she's working as a freelance writer and trainer in Cádiz, Andalucia, but as soon as her children are old enough, she plans to get back into the classroom. Roy Norris’s teaching career began in 1984 in Selby, North Yorkshire, where he taught French and German in a comprehensive school for five years. At the end of the eighties he moved to Madrid and a career in ELT. Most of his time there was spent working with International House, as teacher, teacher-trainer and at one point Cambridge Examinations Co-ordinator. In the mid- 1990s Roy spent 18 months in Vilnius, Lithuania, where he held the post of Director of Studies at Soros International House. In 1996 Roy came back to International House Madrid to teach, and started writing for Macmillan three years later. With the invaluable support and understanding of his wife, Azucena, and daughters Lara and Elisa, he has written Ready for FCE (2001),Ready for CAE (2004) and Straightforward Advanced (2008), and co-written Direct to FCE (2011). He has also contributed to the Spanish bachillerato course Upgrade (2010).
