Mary risk is the pseudonym for the author Elizabeth Laird, an award-winning British writer of children’s fiction and travel, known for the large body of folktales which she compiled from regions of Ethiopia. The author uses the pseudonym for her TV and educational writing, including the TV adaptation of The Animals of Farthing Wood. Under the Mary Risk name, Elizabeth has also penned several stories for children learning English as a foreign language. Carol illustrated What's for Supper? in the I CAN READ series of bilingual books for children. Lone trained as a graphic designer at St Martin's School of Art and then worked in advertising. After going freelance, Lone helped shape the style and design of the b small publishing list and has contributed to many books as co-author. Catherine has more than 30 years' experience teaching languages to children and developing innovative language learning programmes as well as publishing all other types of non-fiction books for children from art to science. Alex illustrated I Want My Banana in the I CAN READ series for b small publishing. John illustrated Puppy Finds a Friend in the I CAN READ series for b small publishing. Gill illustrated Hurry Up, Molly in the I CAN READ series for b small publishing. Steve trained in animation at the RCA before working in advertising and drawing a strip cartoon for the Financial Times. He wrote and illustrated the Crafty Histories books and Read & Play for b small, alongside with wife. These days, Steve tours the UK with his roadshows for children.
