With its thin body and dozens of spindly legs, the graceful gossamer worm looks like a prehistoric fossil brought to life. It swims with a smooth flowing motion, swerving its long body from side to side, and rhythmically paddling its two rows of legs. This method allows it to swim forwards and backwards and make swift turns - perfect for escaping attack and catching prey.
