When Sam's parents are stranded on Planet X, he bravely asks his neighbours, the notorious Space Pirates, to help rescue them. But they'd rather carry on bowling and singing space-shanties, so Sam has no choice but to hide in a barrel of alien slime and stowaway! A chase through space that will have you cackling from start to finish!

Avast ye, me space hearties! When Sam's parents crash land on Planet X, Sam asks his noisy neighbours for help. But they are black-hearted Space Pirates, only interested in treasure and singing space-shanties. So Sam climbs into a barrel of alien gloop and stows away. It's a sticky start to a stellar adventure!

It was a huge black galleon with billowing sails and golden portholes, out of which jutted huge cannons. At the back of the ship, looming out over open space, was a long silver plank. Sam grinned as he saw the white skull-and-rocket-flares flag flying from the topmost mast. Space pirates! The space-pirate ship was now close enough for Sam to hear it flying low over the lab. Sam watched through the window as it travelled over to the other side of the planet, where laser beams were criss-crossing in the sky. Fireworks flared here and there, and if Sam concentrated hard enough he could just about hear the noise of fighting and the raucous singing of popular space shanties.
