<p><strong>Selected for the CBC’s 2023 August Hot Off The Press Reading List</strong> (https://www.cbcbooks.org/cbc-book-lists/august-2023/)</p>
<p>"This is such a fun series! Very bright with eye-catching illustrations. The text is accessible and engaging." <em><strong>—Michelle Dunbar, Librarian</strong></em></p>
<p>"Shapes are everywhere, from the home, to being part of hobbies, such as music, sports, art, and even the playground. Shapes help us see the world in new, unique, engaging ways. People just have to be present and engaged in seeing how shapes actually shape the world we live in and how we view it. Readers should take a few moments after reading this book and check out how many shapes there are in the room in which they’re sitting. How many rectangles, how many squares, how many triangles, cubes, etc.? There is so much to be seen if we only take the time to do so! Shapes, Shapes Everywhere opens up so many avenues to seeing how shapes help us relate to the world around us. It is a book for kids and adults alike!" <em><strong>—Beth Rodgers, YA Books Central</strong></em></p>
<p>"This was a great introductory into basic geometry and how it plays an essential role in our lives. The content is perfect for second graders to read independently, and for as young as pre-k for a teacher/parent led lesson. The illustrations are fun and show case the shapes, and how we utilize them, well." <em><strong>—Cherokee Crum, YA Books Central</strong></em></p>
<p>"Shapes, Shapes Everywhere will definitely be finding a home in my classroom library! The illustrations are beautiful and the idea that shapes both simple and complex are all around us is so important for our youngest students to understand. The vocabulary in this book is very advanced so this would be best as a read aloud or as a non-fiction take-home text." <strong><em>—NetGalley-Educator</em></strong></p>
<p>"Anytime I come across books by Albatros I know I’m going to be learning new things. Their books are so informative (in a fun way). Nura and I are always finding out new and fun facts. This book is about shapes and how they are all around us. Literally everywhere. Nura loved the page with musical instruments." <em><strong>—Nura's Little Library, IG</strong></em></p>

An original concept where geometry is explained on real life situations showing the practical usage of shapes in our everyday lives.

Geometry is usually considered a demanding, boring or even a scary subject. But shapes are all around us and we use them constantly without even realizing it. Various usage of shapes in different environments is presented in 17 chapters and the book ends with a double-spread where kids can try out their newly gained knowledge.

The aim of this book is to show geometry as a fun and useful subject that can be comprehensible and that helps us in many ways on a daily basis.

Lenka Chytilova was drawn to books and writing from a young age. It was no surprise, then, when she got a degree in Czech Language and Literature and German Translation. She has always tried to connect books and reading, her greatest hobby, with her work; she worked part-time in a bookshop for many years and she also worked as an editor and proofreader. Lenka likes classic Czech fairytales, and she loves Večerníček, the Czech television program for children’s bedtime stories. She grew up in a village in East Moravia.

After many years in London, Gary Boller now lives a little more south in the countryside in Hampshire, UK, with his wife and two children and several cats. He trained as a graphic designer gaining an HND and also thereafter had a career in design and advertising in London. He was always drawing as a child, even on his parents walls. He loved the comics of the day. The Beano and Dandy, famous titles in England. One day in a summer vacation job from college a co-worker said to him, on observing a cartoon he'd drawn on the back of an old envelope, "There's something in that!" Well so it turned out. After engaging illustrators as an art director it occurred to him that he would really rather be the illustrator.
