Jess and her parents take her grandfather back to his childhood home to finish his last painting 'River Boy'. Jess is trying to cope with the knowledge that her grandfather is dying. Jess swims after the 'River Boy' to the mouth of the river. Jess learns that her grandfather has died, leaving her his painting of the `River Boy' - a self-portrait.
