<p>'A poignant story brought to life by beautiful images. My daughter and I particularly loved the pictures of the garden, which is captured so wonderfully across the seasons.'<br />-- Juno Magazine</p>

Peter wants to get his mother the perfect gift for her birthday. His sisters paint a picture and bake a cake -- but they won't let Peter join in. Instead, he dreams of giving his mother the most beautiful tree in the world.

Grandad promises to help but Peter is disappointed with the black stick he digs up. How could anyone think this was a beautiful tree?

Then the seasons change, and so does the tree. Will Peter's tree flourish in the end?

This enchanting tale of childhood and seasonal transformation is brought to life by Bernadette Watts' beautifully observed illustrations of the natural world.
