A former deputy headteacher and TV scriptwriter, Alan now

on his books or childhood experiences in care.
Alan is also the author of the Porridge the Tartan Cat series of
books published by Kelpies, an imprint of Scottish indie
publisher Floris Books. Alan is based in North Ayrshire.
