The illustrations were creative, absorbing, and highly stylized, if slightly creepy. They have an appealing messy and layered look that conveys the actual chaos one would expect on a pirate ship run by children. – Youth Services Book Review
This fun title screams story time—with its wild and luminous illustrations and its expressive Spanish text. Bold and large font makes for great opportunities to add emotion and emphasis for full effect during read alouds. A humorous, unique story with an unexpected ending that will invite repeated readings. – School Library Journal
All the boat’s crew are afraid of Desalmau, the fearsome pirate. When they hear the knock, knock, knock of his wooden leg they run to hide. But, what would happen if one day someone changed the wooden leg for a rubber duck? Hilarious consequences await the once terrified crew in this beautifully illustrated book!

José Carlos Andrés started writing theatre for children. And stories, loads of stories. He is fascinated by writing, because it allows him to create new worlds full of laughter and emotions.
He has published theatre plays for children and families, a theatre guide, storytelling, theatre art and clowning for all ages, and of course, stories for picture books. Myriam Cameros Sierra studied at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain, where she came into contact with the world of illustration, comics and animation. From that moment on she decided to dedicate herself to illustration in all its facets. Today she combines her work as an illustrator with teaching, addressing the need for critical visual literacy in a world surrounded by images.
