BOOKLIST -- This zany book of short stories and mini
comics is full of laugh-out-loud fun. Colorful animals, aliens, and humans
interact in the stories, and though sometimes they run into problems, in the end
everyone has a silly good time. At the heart of each tale are valuable lessons
about cooperation, empathy, and so on, but the primary focus is on cartoonish
antics and slapstick humor in a collection composed of a nice mix of mystery,
adventure, and even some magic. Martinez-Joffre's artwork resembles vintage
animation and uses bright, bold colors that perfectly match the over-the-top
tone of the plots. Each individual story holds up on its own, while the
characters feel like they all inhabit the same world. Sure to illicit plenty of
laughs, these bite-sized comics are perfect for elementary and middle-school
fans of comics and animated TV shows. Hand to kids who like Franco and Art
Baltazar's Tiny Titans series, James Burks' Bird & Squirrel comics, or those
who want something a little shorter than Dog Man.
