David John was named after his great uncle, who died at Mametz Wood, on the Somme. He worked as a GP, in North Somerset, for thirty-five years, and is now a tour guide at the M Shed Museum, in Bristol. 'Harriet's Eternal Tears' is David's first novel and is based on an unforgettable conversation with his grandfather. David is currently writing a sequel, which starts in Bolshevik Russia in 1920.
