Our first foray into tourism publications, the book Gwelf: The Survival Guide, saw our intrepid author and artist Wilburton Fox share the delights of the capital city and the Farmlands. His information about the dangers in the Scrublands and beyond were very minimal because his own exploits there were quite restricted. We did the responsible thing, and post-publication we did indeed enjoy meeting so many travellers from beyond the Grande River. Most who have come have heeded our warnings and enjoyed a wonderful time within the City of Gwelf and the Farmlands.
However, there lives an adventurous spirit here in Gwelf and it inhabits many visitors as well. So, after much discussion amongst ourselves, several learned Sparrow colleagues, and the mayors of the major Scrublands villages, it was decided that we should commission Wilburton to create a companion volume with more focus on the Scrublands and what lies beyond. An adventurer’s guide distributed for the benefit of those with the skill and determination to voyage beyond the friendly Farmlands. Wilburton jumped at the chance a little too eagerly.
What lies between these two covers is not exactly the book we commissioned. How could it be? Adventures rarely go as planned but we present to you the collected work, so that adventurers might glean from it the knowledge they need to survive, avoid Wilburton’s pitfalls, and so that, perhaps, you may still journey to our beautiful territory, enjoy the delights, and avoid the dangers.
Sincerely,
The Council
