Superb
Hannah has written a psychological thriller for those who like toying with puzzles, and being toyed with by a playful author. It is, however, Ellen's embedded murder mystery that is the real treasure here. - Sydney Morning HeraldThe genius of Hannah's domestic thrillers - along with the twistiest plots known to woman - is that she creates ordinary people whose psychological quirks make them as monstrous as any serial killer - GuardianOne of the great unmissables of this genre - intelligent, classy and with a wonderfully Gothic imagination - The TimesThe language in Sophie Hannah's novels is so precise and elegantly phrased. More noteworthy, perhaps, is her sure grasp of psychology - particularly that of her beleaguered heroines, often thrown into chaos by the effects of crime or a catastrophic misjudgement on their own part - Financial Times
