Charles Tilly, Columbia University, is one of the premier sociologists of our time. Among his 50 highly influential books are Contentious Politics (Paradigm 2006) and Trust and Rule (Cambridge University Press 2005). Sidney Tarrow is Maxwell M. Upson Professor of Government and Professor of Sociology at Cornell University. His latest books are The New Transnational Activism (Cambridge University Press 2005) and (with Donatella della Porta, eds.) Transnational Protest and Global Activism (Rowman & Littlefield 2004). He is currently President of the Comparative Politics section of the American Political Science Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Science.Among many things about the book, I especially like how the book gives students all they need to do their own research, including some great suggestions at the end.
