Gerry Hassan is a writer and commentator who for the past three years has been Professor of Social Change at Glasgow Caledonian University. He has written extensively on Scottish and UK politics, social change and the future. His books on the Labour Party include The Strange Death of Labour Scotland (2012) and The People's Flag and the Union Jack: An Alternative History of Britain and the Labour Party (2019) (both written with Eric Shaw). He is reviews editor of the journal Renewal: A Journal of Social Democracy and lives in Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway, where he co-founded and runs Kirkcudbright Fringe Festival.
Simon Barrow is a writer, commentator and activist who was director of Ekklesia, the beliefs, politics and ethics think tank, for nearly twenty years. He has written and edited numerous books on politics, ethics, religion and music. He has edited four books with Gerry Hassan, including Scotland the Brave? Twenty Years of Change and the Future of the Nation (2019), Scotland After the Virus (2020) and A Better Nation? The Challenges of Scottish Independence (2022).
