Avishai Ehrlich is a political sociologist and activist. He taught, did research and is politically active in Palestine-Israel, the UK, Germany, Canada and Cyprus. He stands for full equality for Palestinians, against the exclusionary nature of the Israeli state. He strives for a secular, socialist Middle East, gender equality and human rights. This book was compiled by some of his friends to celebrate his 70th birthday. Avishai assures us that he is not dead yet and intends to continue to fight and write. The editors of this book are the women who feature most prominently in Avishai’s life today: his close friend, his partner and his daughter. They are also among the contributors. The idea of this book came out of a conversation about how to celebrate Avishai’s 70th birthday. The resulting publication is testimony to our love, respect and admiration.
