Trevor Jones is Lecturer in Criminology and Criminal Justice at Cardiff University, formerly Senior Research Fellow at the Policy Studies Institute in London, he has published extensively in the fields of policing and crime prevention. His books include: Democracy and Policing (PSI 1994), Policing and Democracy in the Netherlands (PSI 1995), Britain's Ethnic Minorities (PSI 1996), Policing After the Act (PSI 1997), Private Security and Public Policing (Clarendon Press 1998) Mike Maguire is Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Cardiff University, he is a Co-editor of Punishment and Society, An International Journal and Series Editor of the Open University Press criminology texts; He is co-editor of the Oxford Handbook of Criminology 3rd edition (Oxford University Press 2002) Amanda Robinson is Lecturer in Criminology and Criminal Justice at Cardiff University. Her research relates to the police role in society, including community policing practices, police discretion, and decision-making, the police response to violence against women, and police performance measurement.
