The development of a society is the process of solving its own conflicts, contradictions and problems. The policy of China since Reform and Opening-up has brought unprecedented vitality to China, but also brought about problems have never been seen in the Chinese history.This work focuses on the introspection, explanation and the remedies for the Chinese society in the period of social transformation. This work collects fruits of the author in the past 20 years on this topic and is very cogent for the construction of the localization of sociology in this area.

Li Zhu, Ph.D. Graduated with the bachelor degree from Philosophy Department in Nanjing University (NJU) in 1983, and the Ph.D. degree from Sociology Department in NJU. Currently tenured as professor and doctoral advisor in Sociology Department in NJU. He serves as a council member in Chinese Sociological Association, vice chairman of Jiangsu Sociological Association, and chairman of Nanjing Sociological Association. He has 15 publications, including but not limited to, Living Conditions and Relief System of Lower Class Social Populations in Urban China (Beijing: China Social Sciences Publishing House, 2014), Out of Vortex of Social Contradictions and Conflicts: Chinas Major Emergencies and Management (Beijing: Social Sciences Academic Press, 2012), Contemporary Social Issues in China (Beijing: Social Sciences Academic Press, 2008), Urban Adaptation of Domestic and Foreign Migrant Workers (Nanjing : Jiangsu People's Publishing House, 2009), Transitional Pain: Social Anomie during Transition (Beijing: Social Sciences Academic Press, 2006), and Chinese Migrant Workers (Fujian People's Publishing House, 2002). Principal investigator in more than 30 National Social Science Funding such as numbered 14ZDA061 Studies on Tendency Analysis and Solution Strategy of Social Conflicts in China. Finished more than 200 journal articles and publications among which 50 are reprinted by Xinhua Digest and Literature Copy of Renmin University of China. The top 20 Chinese social science scholars of highly cited and scholarly impact. His main research areas include social conflicts, social anomie, social charity, social construction and so on.
