Muluken Zegeye Getie, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University. He received his Ph.D. from the Université Bourgogne Franche-Comté, France, an M.Sc. in Sustainable Energy Engineering from Bahir Dar University, and a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Mekelle University, Ethiopia. Dr. Getie's primary duties as an assistant professor at the University are teaching and advising graduate students and participating in research and community-based projects. His research areas include energy transition, energy efficiency enhancement, thermal refrigeration, solar energy, energy management and policy issues, and, more generally, renewable energy. He has published around 40 papers in high-impact journals and conference proceedings. In addition to teaching and conducting research, he served the University in different administrative activities, such as Income Generation Coordinator, Faculty Dean, Research Director, and Deputy Scientific of Director for Research and Technology Transfer. He is the distinguished member of European Alliance for innovation. He also participated in community-based professional activities, including manuscript reviewing, organizing conferences, academic book editing, participating in professional activities, and providing training and consultancy services.

 

Kibret Mequanint, Ph. D., is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Western University, Canada. He served as Associate Chair (Undergraduate) from 2008 to 2014, Acting Department Chair from 2014 to 2015, and Graduate Chair from 2015 to 2016). He also served in the University Senate from 2014 to 2017 and is currently serving on the Board of Governors. His research focuses on biomaterials, tissue and regenerative medicine, interfacing polymer science, materials and chemical engineering, and life sciences. Over the past 20 years, his work has spanned fundamental understandings and translational research in cell-material interactions, the design of novel polymer biomaterials for medical devices, and therapeutic radiation dosimeters, with some of these technologies being licensed to companies. He is a dedicated teacher and a leading scholar and has won significant teaching and research awards. He co-chaired NSERC's Materials and Chemical Engineering Discovery Grant panel from 2015 to 2018. Prof. Mequanint is a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) and a member of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS) and the Canadian Biomaterials Society (CBS).

Muluken Temesgen, Ph.D,  serves as an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University. He earned his Ph.D. in 2022 from this esteemed institution, where he also completed his M.Sc. in Sustainable Energy Engineering and B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering. In his role, Dr. Muluken teaches and mentors graduate students, while also engaging in impactful research and community initiatives. His research focuses on hydrokinetic turbines, computational studies of wind turbines, solar engineering, and simulations of solid-fluid interactions using OpenFOAM. With over 15 publications in high-impact journals and conference proceedings, he has made significant contributions to his field. Beyond teaching and research, he has taken on various administrative responsibilities, including serving as Research Director and  chair holder for  small-scale wind and hydro turbines research units. Additionally, he actively participates in community-oriented professional activities, which include manuscript reviewing, organizing conferences, editing academic books, and offering training and consultancy services

Molla Asmare Alemu, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Energy Systems Engineering at the Bahir Dar Energy Center, Bahir Dar Institute of Technology (BiT), Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. He serves as the section head of advanced energy storage and conversion and is a member of the BiT research ethics review committee. He received a BEd. in Chemistry from Mekelle University, an MSc in Sustainable Energy Engineering from Bahir Dar University, and his Ph.D. in Energy Systems Engineering from Gazi University. He has authored over 20 articles and conference papers on renewable energy and environmental-related issues. He also won the second prize in applied science and technology within the scope of the International Student Science Congress in Turkey in 2022. His research focuses on renewable energy production, conversion, and optimization; energy consumption scenario analysis; fuel cells coupled with energy storage; green energy (emission-free fuels; hydrogen, ammonia, biogas, biodiesel, biofuel, etc.); rechargeable batteries for Emobility and stationary application, fuel-efficient cookstoves and energy efficiency; waste to energy; application of renewable energy for hydrogen and related generations; solar PV and cooling systems; and combustion and modeling.

Getinet Yenealem, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia, where he also serves as the Assistant Registrar in the School of Materials Science and Engineering. Before joining Bahir Dar University, he worked at Haramaya University. He received a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Bahir Dar University, a Master's in Materials Science from Addis Ababa University, and his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China. Dr. Yenealem's research focuses on materials processing, characterization, thin films, and printed technology.
