KEVIN H. SHAUGHNESSY received his PhD from Stanford University in 1998 is now Professor and Chair of Chemistry at The University of Alabama. His research interests are focused on developing new ligands for metal-catalyzed bond-forming reactions and understanding how ligand structure impacts the mechanism of these processes.
ENGELBERT CIGANEK received his PhD from MIT in 1959 under the direction of Arthur C. Cope and began his professional career at DuPont Central Research in 1961. In 1981 he transferred to the Medical Products Department and then to the DuPont-Merck Pharmaceutical Company in 1991, retiring in 1994. He has been involved with the Organic Reactions series in many capacities including 17 years on the Board of Editors and since 2000 as the Editorial Advisor. He singlehandedly authored three chapters, coauthored four others and translated two from original German drafts.
REBECCA B. DeVASHER received her PhD from the University of Alabama in 2004. She is now an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Her research interests include developing environmentally-friendly reaction conditions for palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions as well as designing sustainable methods for the production of biofuels.
