Jia'en Lin is Professor at Xi'an Shiyou University. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanics from Tsinghua University, an M.S. from China Petroleum University, Beijing, and a B.S. from Southwestern Petroleum University, both in Petroleum Engineering. He worked as Visiting Scholar at the University of Houston for one year during 2011–2012 and at the Heriot-Watt University for half a year in 1998. He also worked as Petroleum Engineer at Xinjiang Petroleum Administration Bureau from 1983 to 1996.
Prof. Lin has over 30 years of experience with national oil-producing companies and universities. His research areas include reservoir description, reservoir engineering, well test analysis, reservoir information management, prediction of production performance, multi-phase fluid flows in porous media, and numerical simulation. He has published over 50 papers in journals and conference proceedings and has led more than 30 research projects on reservoir monitoring and well test data interpretation, reservoir engineering, reservoir description, and management for PetroChina, Sinopec, and Cnooc in the last ten years. In addition, he is Founder of the Center for Reservoir Monitoring and Management at Xi'an Shiyou University.
