Prof. (Dr.) Shamsher Bahadur Singh is a licensed Professional Engineers [P.E. (Civil) in the state of Michigan, USA and have Post-doctorate from the Lawrence Technological University (LTU), USA. Prof. Singh is elected fellow from six prominent International Organizations such as (i) Fellow of American Society of Civil Engineers (F. ASCE), (ii) Fellow of Structural Engineering Institute (F.SEI) of ASCE, (iii) Fellow of Coalition Disaster Resilience Infrastructure (F. CDRI) (iv) Fellow of Institution of Civil Engineers (FICE) of U.K. (v) Fellow of Indian Association of Structural Engineers (FIAStructE), and (vi) Fellow of Institution of Engineers (F.IE). He is designated Chartered Engineer (INDIA), and currently working as Senior Professor of Department of Civil Engineering and Dean of Infrastructure and Planning (IP) at Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani. Prof. Singh is recipient of several fellowships such as Post-doctorate from the Lawrence Technological University (LTU), USA, Quality Improvement Program Fellowship at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, Junior Research Fellowship at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), Allahabad, and National Merit Scholarships at NIT Warangal. He has about 36 years of teaching, research, and administrative experience at International level. He has 278 publications to his credit which include more than 213 research papers (109 Journals and 104 conference papers), 12 books, 14 research reports and 31 book chapters, 02 theses, and 6 Patents in addition to being Who is Who of various organizations. Prof. Singh is active member of various Technical Committees such as ACI 440, ACI 423, ASCE/SEI 7-Minimum Design Loads, CED 54 Committee of BIS, ISO/ TC 71/ SC 6/ WG 6.  The current areas of research of Prof. Singh are development of design guidelines for Functionally Graded Composite materials and Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) reinforced prestressed concrete structures in particular and composite materials and structures in general including nonlinear finite element modeling. Prof. Singh has executed a total of 45 research and consultancy projects funded by the International and National funding agencies and has received several prestigious awards such as Distinguished Alumnus Award-2024 for Professional Excellence in Academic Research from NIT Warangal, ICI-Ultratech Outstanding Concrete Technologist award 2023, and Best Academician of the Year -2020 award by the Indian Institution of Engineers.  He has also received two best paper awards, i.e., one by International Conference on Advances in Civil and Environmental Engineering (ACEE 2015) held at Penang, Malaysia and the other by the Indian Concrete Journal in the year 2021. 

 

Dr. G. Muthukumar is an Associate professor in Department of Civil Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS) Pilani, Rajasthan, currently on deputation to off-campus at Chennai center. He did his B.Tech. (Hons.) from SASTRA University, Thanjavur and M.E. and Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from BITS Pilani-Pilani campus. His research interest lies primarily in the areas of earthquake-resistant analysis and design, fire-resistance of structures, and non-linear finite element analysis of structures. He has seven journal articles and 14 conference publications apart from three book chapters. Currently, he is guiding three Ph. D.  students at BITS Pilani-Pilani campus. He has teaching interests in different spectrum of civil engineering including structural engineering, transportation engineering, and construction management. He, along with Prof. Manoj Kumar and Prof. Shamsher Bahadur Singh, has also developed outcome-based learning document for the course "Structural Analysis - II" under National Mission Project on Pedagogy (Main Phase) [2016-2017]. He has also attended 2-day workshop on Achieving High Quality in Education at the Tertiary Level, Organized by Teaching Learning Center, BITS Pilani- Pilani campus (2017). He is also the recipient of BITS Pilani Additional Competitive Research Grant on "Investigation of Ductile Characteristics of High Strength Concrete Beams Reinforced with High Strength Steels and Basalt Fibers under Elevated Temperature Condition". He has been invited as one of the resource persons for the Teaching-Learning Workshop for Next Generation Academicians at BITS Pilani-Pilani campus. As resource person, he has delivered lectures as a part of Delhi Jal Board Training Program on “Sustainable Water Management Systems and participated as one of the resource persons for ONGC online Training program on “Recent Developments on Rehabilitation and Retrofitting of Concrete Structures”. He was also the Joint Organizing Secretary for 2nd International Conference on Advances in Concrete, Structural, and Geotechnical Engineering (ACSGE 2018) at Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani, during Feb. 26-28, 2018. Previously, he was convener of the Academic Counselling Cell (ACC) at Pilani campus for a stint of two years from 2020-2022. He is also the member of senate since September 1st, 2022. 

 

Dr. Nishant Roy presently serves as Assistant Professor and Head at the National Centre for Disaster Mitigation and Management, Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur. He previously served as a faculty member  in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani, Pilani Campus. His research area spans Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering, Dam Safety Assessment, Tunnel Mechanics, and Landslides. He has published over 20 articles in peer reviewed journals of international repute.
