Serine proteases play significant roles in healh and human disease. Abnormal expression and activities of serine proteases have been linked to the pathogenesis of many diseases. The book presents correlation between serine proteases and human diseases. It helps the reader understand classification, catalytic mechanism and types of serine proteases and their role in human disease pathogenesis at mechanistic level. The chapters explain the role of serine proteases in various diseases including respiratory disorders and cancer. It also covers the therapeutic importance of serine proteases as drug target and explains the mechanistic insights of serine proteases inhibitors. Serine protease are known to play crucial role in biological processes but disturbance in their equilibrium can result in serious health conditions. To maintain homeostasis, serine protease inhibitors come in action and inhibit proteases. Several serine protease inhibitors have been identified and many more are being designed as novel compounds for inhibitions of proteases that provide management of comorbidities. She is having 5 years of research experience including biosciences research, Teaching and Administration. Dr. Bansal have got her master’s (Biochemistry) and doctorate degree (Biochemistry) from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. During her doctoral study, she worked on Phenotypic, Biochemical, Molecular and In silico Characterization of Pediococcus acidilactici NCDC 252 and screening it for its safety and efficacy assessment as per ICMR-DBT (INDIA) guidelines. Dr. Bansal has worked in diversified scientific areas ranging from Protein Biochemistry, Molecular Biology to Genomics, Proteomics, Next Generation Sequencing and Drug designing. She also published Genome Sequence of Pediococcus acidilactici NCDC 252 in National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), 2019. She has published 28 research articles in peer reviewed, internationally repute journals and having 84 citations [H-Index~5;i10 index:4; cumulative impact factor: 26.201].
  • Dr. Anil K Sharma is presently working as a Professor and Head of the Biosciences and Technology Department since the year 2010. Previously he worked as a Senior Research Scientist in health sciences (2008-2010) and a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow (Molecular Biology) in the Microbiology and Immunology Department at UIC College of Medicine Chicago, IL, USA (2003-2008). He has more than 205 publications in peer-reviewed journals of national and international repute with h-Index of 36 (i10~99) and a cumulative impact factor of his publications is more than 576.0 with more than 6815 citations. He has filed 17 patents with three of them recently published and 01 granted. 10 PhD scholars have already been passed out under his Guidance along with 22 Post Graduate students and 06 PhDs are currently pursuing under his guidance. His research interests are diverse but he has done tremendous progress contributing to Microbial, Environmental and Molecular biology fields, leading him to find a place consistently in the year 2019,2020 and 2021 in the list of global top 2% scientists recently released by Stanford University California, USA.
