Dr. Kelsey is a nationally certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP). She holds master’s degrees in both nursing and adult and community education. She received her doctoral degree in 2005 with a major in adult, higher and community education from Ball State University. Dr. Kelsey’s clinical practice has been in a variety of health clinics providing well woman care, family planning services, sexually transmitted infection diagnosis and treatment, and prenatal care.Dr. Kelsey is an Assistant Professor at Ball State University School of Nursing. She teaches advanced practice role and primary care of women in the family nurse practitioner track of the master’s program. She has been the recipient of three School of Nursing Outstanding Teacher Awards, the Beta Rho Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society Excellence in Nursing Education Award, and the Ball State University Outstanding Nursing Alumnus Award.She has presented nationally on a variety of women’s health topics including lab and diagnostic test interpretation in women’s health, contraception, health screening recommendations for women, and writing for publication. She has also published articles on a variety of women’s health issues and on professional development for WHNPs.In her role as Director of Publications for NPWH she led the writing of the 8th edition of the WHNP Guidelines for Practice and Education (2020). She also leads the writing of NPWH position statements and white papers.
Dr. Jamille Nagtalon-Ramos is a distinguished clinician, researcher, educator, and award winning author. She is an Assistant Professor at Rutgers University and a women's health nurse practitioner at Penn Medicine. She was instrumental in developing the first obstetric nurse practitioner hospitalist position in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 2003. Dr. Nagtalon-Ramos' research centers on two vital areas: (1) improving the sexual and reproductive health of Filipino women in the global diaspora and (2) fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and equitable access to healthcare. Dr. Nagtalon-Ramos has received numerous grants from organizations such as the South Jersey Institute of Population Health, the Philippine Nurses Association of America, and Sigma Theta Tau. Her dual role as a clinician and academic allows her to bridge the gap between research, practice, and education, ensuring her work is grounded in evidence-based, real-world clinical application.A prolific scholar, Dr. Nagtalon-Ramos has authored and co-authored numerous peer reviewed journal articles, textbook chapters, and books. She was the co-editor of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th editions of the Midwifery & Women's Health Nurse Practitioner Certification Review Guide with Dr. Beth Kelsey and now leads the 6th edition of Kelsey's Midwifery & Women's Health Nurse Practitioner Certification Review Guide with Dr. Melicia Escobar. This text is a key resource for WHNPs and midwives preparing for national board certification. Her scholarly contributions have earned her accolades, including the American Journal of Nursing's Book of the Year Award for her first book, Best Evidence based Practices: Maternal-newborn Nursing Care. Additionally, she has received the Inspiration Award for Education from the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health, the Philippine Nurses Association of New Jersey's Researcher of the Year Award, the Rutgers School of Nursing Alumni Association's Rising Star Award, and numerous teaching and mentorship honors.Dr. Nagtalon-Ramos is a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and currently serves as FAANP's Executive Committee Treasurer. She was selected for the 2022 cohort of the Filipino Youth Leadership Program (FYLPRO) and now serves on FYLPRO's Board of Directors. She is also an Editorial Fellow for the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecologic Neonatal Nursing and Nursing for Women's Health, a Rutgers University Bridging the Gap Fellow, an Apolitical and Robert Wood Johnson Gender Equity and Learning Exchange Fellow, and a Rutgers Camden Engaged Civic Learning Faculty Fellow.Dr. Nagtalon-Ramos earned her undergraduate nursing degree from Rutgers University and completed her master's degree in nursing and doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania.
