The book is in two volumes: Volume One is devoted to basic and technical aspects; Volume Two provides the clinical basis of modern radiation oncology. The chapters focus on an evidence-based multidisciplinary approach to cancer management covering the indications, contouring, treatment technique, outcomes, and toxicities related to radiotherapy for various cancer sites. It includes separate chapters on radiation biology, physics, and palliative care. Additionally, the book also addresses contemporary topics including artificial intelligence in radiation oncology, the role of protons/heavy ions, and the conduct of clinical trials in radiation oncology.

The book is a relevant resource for busy radiation oncology physicians, practitioners, and trainees/residents/fellows seeking to utilize evidence in the literature to guide the management of radiation therapy patients. Dr. Anusheel Munshi (M.D., D.N.B.) is the head of radiation oncology at Manipal Hospital, New Delhi, India with more than 25 yrs. of experience in Radiation Oncology. He has worked at premier institutes across the country including at the  Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, and the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh, India. Dr. Munshi has published more than 150 papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals and many of these are extensively cited. In addition he has authored several chapters in various books, and has conducted trials, including investigator-initiated trials. His areas of interest are  breast, brain, and lung cancers. He is reviewer for multiple journals and member of several prestigious oncology societies.

Dr. Tharmarnadar Ganesh (Ph.D., DABR) completed his post-graduation in medical physics from Cancer Institute, Chennai, India; certified by the American Board of Radiology in therapeutic medical physics; worked at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Dr. Ganesh is currently working as the chief medical physicist at Manipal Hospitals, New Delhi, India. He has published many papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals, and several chapters in various books. Dr. Ganesh is also the associate editor for the Journal of Medical Physics.

Dr. Biplab Sarkar, (Dip. R.P., Ph.D.) completed a diploma in radiological physics from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, India; completed a Ph.D. from GLA University Mathura, India; worked at institutions including RST Regional Cancer Centre, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, AMRI Hospitals, Kolkata, Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgaon, and Manipal Hospitals, New Delhi. Dr. Sarkar is currently working as the chief medical physicist at Apollo Multispecialty Hospitals, Kolkata, and pursuing D.Sc., from GLA University Mathura, India. He has published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals and has a patent to his name. Dr. Sarkar is a reviewer of many journals and an active member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine.  

Dr. Atul Sharma (M.D., D.M.) completed his MBBS and MD in general medicine from Dr. S N Medical College, Rajasthan, India; worked at the Cancer Care Manitoba, University of Manitoba, Canada, and as an associate professor and a brief observership at Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, Canada. Dr. Sharma is currently working as Vice Chairman, Medical Oncology, Max Superspeciality Hospital, New Delhi. He was earlier the  professor and head of the academic department of medical oncology, BRA-IRCH, and National Cancer Institute, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, India. He has published over 200 papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals and several book chapters. Dr. Sharma’s areas of interest include lymphomas, acute leukemia, head and neck and gastrointestinal cancer, and blood and marrow transplantation.

Dr. Indranil Mallick (M.D.) completed a residency at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India; specialist training from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India; clinical fellowship from the Princess Margaret Hospital, University of Toronto, Canada. Currently, he is a senior radiation oncologist at Tata Medical Center, Kolkata, India. Dr. Mallick specializes in the treatment of head and neck, genitourinary, and gastrointestinal cancers. His areas of interest include image-guided radiation therapy and its implementation in clinical workflows. Dr. Mallick has published several papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals and holds several grants and awards for the development of e-learning in oncology.

Dr. Manur Gururajachar Janaki (M.D.) is a professor of radiation oncology at Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore. She received her MD from Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology and DNB in the year 1993. Between 1993 and 1995, she worked at Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai and between 1995 and 1997 at Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology. Since 1997, she is attached to Ramaiah Medical College. She has served as the Head of the Department for 10 years and guided nearly 30 students so far. She is also a member of Medical Education unit of the college. She has authored 35 articles in various journals and written two book chapters. Dr. Janaki has served as a peer reviewer for various journals such as Journal of Contemporary Brachytherapy, Journal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics, and Clinical Oncology.

Dr. Bidhu K. Mohanti (M.D.) completed his residency in radiotherapy at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India; worked as Assistant Professor at Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bangalore, and as Professor in Radiation Oncology at AIIMS, New Delhi in academic, clinical, and research areas for 30 years. Currently, Dr. Mohanti is working as Director-Academic and Head of Radiation Oncology, Bagchi Sri Shankara Cancer Centre & Research Institute, Bhubaneswar, India. His areas of interest include the development of cancer facilities in private organizations. Dr. Mohanti has also been a part of the government assignment to set up the National Oncology Center at Royal Hospital, Muscat, Oman; and an expert under the IAEA, Vienna, and European Commission, Brussels, Europe. He has published more than 200 papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals, several chapters in various books, and authored a few books, including a memoir.
