Carlos Montufar, Head of Critical Care Obstetrics Unit. Director of Critical Care Obstetrics Fellowship Program. For the last 20 years, he has dedicated to developing and managing critically ill obstetric patients. Also, he had a long teaching career and pioneering obstetric critical care.
Dr Hidalgo is an internationally recognized leader in Intensive Care Medicine, at BelizeHealthcare Partners. He established the first general intensive care unit in Belize in 2002. Dr Hidalgo is a pioneer of Critical Care Medicine in Belize, and in 2010, he founded Central America and the Caribbean Consortium of the Intensive Care Medicine. In recognition of his contributions to the field of Intensive Care Medicine, he has been awarded the Presidential Citation Award from the American Society of Intensive Care Medicine for ten consecutive years. He has also received the Master of the American College of Physician award from the ACP. The first Latin American Intensivist to receive the Master of the American College of Critical Care.
Dr Alfredo Gei, an obstetrician-gynaecologist specializing in high-risk pregnancy and affiliated with Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital, knows all too well the complications that come with multiple births. Not only has he worked with many families going through the process, but he also helped bring a mother of quadruplets to term at 33 weeks—nearly three weeks longer than the national average for quadruplets and of crucial importance to the health of the babies.
