This work aims to provide a foundation for the study and practice of health services management. Though focused principally on the UK, its analysis is applicable more generally to the public and private health sectors of developed countries. Drawing largely on approaches from policy analysis and economics, this book: identifies the special features of health services and their implications for mangement; provides a minimum set of essential concepts for managing health services; and analyzes the main organizational dynamics of health services and how managers can intervene in them.
