From an international perspective the Nordic countries are known for their liberal approach to crime and punishment. But in recent years the penal climate has stiffened. This book examines this repressive trend in criminal policy from different points of departure, and the contributors caution against a disturbing increased reliance on punitive measures. In sum, the aim of the book is to confront the utility and futility of criminal law policy.
