The "Luther Council" founded in 1936 saw itself as the Lutheran part of the Confessing Church. After 1945 he was significantly involved in the reorganization of church life in Germany. After initially striving for a purely Lutheran church in competition with the plan for a unified evangelical church, the VELKD emerged from the "Lutherrat" in 1948 as a merger of Lutheran regional churches within the EKD. The minutes and related documents provide information about the political, socio-cultural and church-religious situation in post-war Germany. The data, facts and people mentioned in the texts are explained in detail and commented on in the notes. Various registers help to open up the sources.
