Book 10 contains Varro‘s most theoretical statements about the workings of language, his explanation of how one can reasonably construct an account of linguistic regularity, particularly in the declension of nouns. As T. brings out in his introduction and at various points in his commentary, Varro made some remarkable discoveries and proposals.
