Dr Kavita Tyagi, a Bharat Shiksha Ratan Awardee, teaches English in the Department of English & Other Foreign Languages at Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University, Lucknow, India. Having more than 25 years of teaching experience, she is actively involved in a variety of academic endeavours. Dr Tyagi has authored four books. Her publications on varied subjects have appeared in leading national and international journals. She has presented more than 100 research papers in national and international seminars/conferences. She has delivered invited talks, keynote addresses in many conferences, workshops and refresher courses in India and abroad. She plays a significant role as an active member of several distinguished academic bodies of various universities. She has travelled extensively in India and abroad for academic assignments.

During the Victorian age, crime was an inescapable part of social problems, and Dickens, being the greatest chronicler of that period, fictionalized and commented upon the outstanding topical issues of his day.
