Matt Singleton is a gerontologist who studied for his MSc at The University of Southampton's Centre for Research on Ageing. His father, Brian, lost his passion for reading shortly after his dementia diagnosis in 2017. Rather than accepting this, Matt developed books for Brian, which they enjoy together immensely. After sharing the books with more people with dementia and dementia academics, it was recommended that Matt entered Cognitive Books for the Alzheimer's Society Accelerator Programme. His idea was accepted as part of the 2023-24 cohort. Since then, Cognitive Books and Alzheimer's Society have worked together to get the books suitable for as many people living with dementia, and their supporters, as possible. 'looking back at ... Classic Coronation Street' follows on the success of his first Cognitive Book, 'looking back at ... The Beatles' and 'looking back at ... The 1966 World Cup'.
