He is a teacher, and this book is the culmination of his and Louise Minks's interest in this important period of America's past. The Minks have also collaborated as co-authors on a book about the French and Indian War.

Louise Minks has a master's degree in U.S. history from Indiana University, USA. She is a professional artist, the owner of Millworks Gallery & Studio, and an elected member of the National Association of Women Artists. She has been artist-in-residence at the Wurlitzer Foundation in Taos, New Mexico, and at Harper's Ferry National Historical Park, USA. She is the author of The Hudson River, a book about America's first landscape painters, among other published works.
