Although many of the papers-- by some of the most distinguished authors in the field and embracing perspectives from several disciplines, including economics, medicine, epidemiology, sociology, philosophy, and anthropology--have been published elsewhere it is useful to have them bound in one volume, because they are some of the most significant contributions to the discourse on health equity.
