Fun and engaging, it makes the most of the growing identity of the young teenager through motivating texts and stories and lively illustrations and photography. It focuses on grammar skills and vocabulary development. This title features: word power sections comprising word building exercises (for example make and do, verbs with prepositions, collocations with on/get, verb/noun/adjective prefixes and suffixes, etcetera); and exam practice sections in the style of PET as well as some national state exams.

The course has a transparent grammar syllabus which progresses steadily throughout the course, encouraging a discovery approach before practising and then personalising grammar.

Colin Granger is the author or co-author of Play Games With English, New Generation, Generation 2000 and Hot Spot. He has worked in many countries and is currently writing textbooks and engaged in teacher-training. He is also involved in Komedia, an arts venue in Brighton, England. Katherine Stannett lives in a small village in Sussex with her husband, two lively children, two dogs and one cat. She studied Russian at the London School of Slavonic and East European Studies and then went on to teach English in England and in Japan. She spent many years editing EFL material before she decided to have a go at writing. As well as 'Hot Spot' 3 4, she has written 'Take Shape' Workbooks 4 6 and 'Macmillan Secondary Course' Teacher's Books and magazines for Macmillan and also 'Timesaver Raps!
