Author Biography
The Woman's Book of Mindfulness can be used in a variety of ways—as a meditation guide, a daily friend and reminder, or the answer to a specific question. If you want to make one particular practice a habit, try concentrating on it for twenty-one days straight. Experts have found it takes twenty-one days to either break an old habit or create a new one. You can also ask for the perfect, right entry for the moment and open the book at random. Random opening is intuitive and fun and sometimes elicits an amazed “No way!” Or you may enjoy the process of moving through the book in sequence. Trust yourself and use The Woman's Book of Mindfulness in ways that speak to your heart in the moment. There is no right or wrong way to practice.
Although the myriad practices within these pages have helped other women create minutes of mindfulness and oases of awareness amid the hustle, hassle, and grief of everyday life, they are by no means the be-all and end-all. You probably either already know of exercises and practices specifically tailored to your desires and needs, or you will be drawn to create them.
Each of us has the ability to nurture mindfulness in her own unique way. The peace of mind and heart gained from a mindful attitude is well worth the commitment. Mindfulness helps us love ourselves more gently and completely. Wrapped in the comfort and security of selflove, our hearts naturally open and love flows more freely to others. And love is the essence of all that matters.
