On graduating, she went travelling through South-East Asia - only to discover whilst in a Vietnam internet cafe that she was a winner of the SCBWI 2008 Undiscovered Voices competition. Charlie Alder is particularly well-known for her young and tween girl book cover design and illustrations. Before that, she was Art Director for a popular women's weekly magazine.
