Biographical note
Pouneh Pouramini holds a BSc in Plant Protection and an MSc in Medicinal and Aromatic Plants. She has published two books in Farsi on medicinal plants. Enrolled at the Leibniz University Hannover, she is currently a PhD student in the Plant Reproductive Biology Group at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research, Germany.Goetz Hensel is a molecular biologist by training, holding a PhD from the University of Braunschweig, Germany. Currently, he leads the Centre of Plant Genome Engineering at Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf, Germany. His research interests include Agrobacterium-mediated gene transfer methods of cereals and targeted genome modifications using custom endonucleases such as clustered regularly-interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR/Cas). He has published around 100 research papers and several book chapters.
Most books in the field of medicinal herbs are written for academic or scientific institutions such as universities and research institutes. This book, however, provides a general overview of more than 350 medicinal plants. In addition, it provides an introduction to the subject, the health benefits and secondary metabolites of each plant, its use in herbal teas, as a tincture and herbal syrup, herbal water, or the essential oils in ointments and creams.
