Following the expansion of the Great Western, Midland and South Western Junction and the London and South Western railway companies, Wiltshire Railways begins with photographs of the South Western line commencing from Salisbury. We then proceed around some of the LSWR routes, along the main GWR line and finally visit the numerous branches radiating throughout the county. This exciting selection covers many aspects of the Wiltshire railway system: from the railway workshops, drawing offices and loco sheds in Swindon, to the tiny rural stations and halts in the countryside. There are also some fascinating documents giving an insight into railway administration in the area and several GWR publicity shots and pictures of railway staff, as well as coverage of royal visits, the effects of war and other events relating to Wiltshire railways.
